PROJECT OVERVIEW

In the framework of the project Induced chirality in “guest-host” supramolecular assemblies – development of new methods of resonance Raman Optical Activity (National Science Centre 2017/25/B/ST4/00854, 1 126 560 PLN) we study chirality induction in supramolecular ”host-guest” aggregates using chiroptical methods, in particular Raman Optical Activity (ROA) and Vibrational Circular Dichroism (VCD). In our approach, we plan to use both a chiral aggregate conjugated with an achiral “guest” and an achiral supramolecular assembly conjugated with a chiral entity as well as assemblies built of both components that are originally chiral. In principal, resonance enhancement of the ROA signal can be introduced by the overlap of the ROA excitation laser either with the excitation of “host” or “guest” chromophore (but finally related also with the supramolecular chirality of an assembly) and both options would be tested. Our main objective in this project is formation of the supramolecular “guest-host” systems showing induced chirality and an intense RROA signal, recording RROA spectra for such assemblies, analysis of interactions and conformational effects in such systems as well as proposition of an optimal “guests” and “hosts” that could be building blocks for versatile and efficient systems for chirality induction.
